Emily Dubis, Principal Consultant

Based in the Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, area, Emily has a broad background that spans from commercialization of biologics and gene therapies to starting up an international manufacturing facility to partnering with clients in a business development role. Using the skills and experience gained across these varied positions, Emily applies critical thinking and a common-sense approach to get the job done. 

Emily led the US Business Development department for the CMO network at Novartis, where she and her team established partnerships with companies in need of manufacturing services. This role entailed sales and marketing plus negotiating and finalizing contracts. At AveXis (now Novartis Gene Therapies), Emily oversaw commercial and clinical gene therapy and plasmid production at external manufacturing sites. She established the Manufacturing Sciences and Technology (MSAT) organization at Humacyte, a regenerative medicine company specializing in manufacturing bioengineered blood vessels. Over a decade was spent at Biogen, in roles of increasing responsibility in MSAT and Manufacturing, where Emily managed drug product filling, worked on the scale-up and tech transfer activities in cell culture and purification, and gained international experience in Denmark, which included the start-up and licensure of a new facility. Early in her career, Emily worked in process development and clinical manufacturing at MedImmune.

 

Emily has a strong technical and quality background, a solid understanding of regulatory requirements, and extensive cGMP experience. She has excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education: MBA from North Carolina State University, Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from the University of Maryland at College Park
